The worst part about the weight restriction was on my outgoing flight, they didn't charge me extra. Why charge me now and not before? The bag ended up weighing 46lbs, slightly under your average 50lbs limit. They only allow up to 40 lbs. I find it hard to believe that in an industry where lifting heavy things is a daily occurrence that they are not expected to be able to lift up to 50 lbs or that the aircraft would struggle accommodating that weight.
They nickel and dime everything, which makes this MORE expensive than other airlines. Both flights were 2 hrs delayed. The seats are terribly uncomfortable. Won't fly Spirit ever again. He then proceeded to make me go to a computer kiosk to "print my boarding pass.
I stood in line again, to then be called up by a woman behind the counter, who told me I was late, even though I was told to check in by computer 3mins after the cut off time and waiting in line for almost She called the gate to "try" to get me on my flight, but both her and the gate said there was nothing I could do because I wouldn't be able to get through security quick enough I was then told that I needed to go to someone else to change my flight to a later time since I "missed" my first one, all the while they could have printed me a boarding pass and I could have walked through security.
After trying to reason that I infact was not tardy to my flight and it was their lack of competence and logic that caused this debacle, I decided to eat the cost of the ticket and I purchased a ticket through American and flew out an hour or so later. Not only was security a breeze but by the time I bought my ticket through American and went through security, the spirit flight was still at the gate.
I also used the kayak app to see what other flights were available and the flight I was supposed to be on was still advertised for sale, even after their supposed cut off time.

Concerning luggage fees, the staff at every counter had a different opinion on what could be considered a personal items. Rules seemed to be arbitrary. The phone supervisor said it was in the original contract I signed when I got my tickets. Maybe, but that contract referred to the original deal and did not expressly say restrictions and limitations referred to all subsequent future deals. A new deal was offered, new terms could be anything. Again how am I to be able to make an informed decision off incomplete information.
They refused to see my point and hung up on me. This would have never happened with a company that cares about its customers. If you ever dare fly spirit again make sure to where a chastity belt when you deal with them bc they'll absolutely bend you over at the first chance. In lieu of the minute announcement touching on passenger safety, and respect towards fellow customers, a little more effort from the employees would have gone a long way on his flight. Finally, once we arrived, our gate was occupied.
Then, the jetwave operated did not show up for some time. Therefore, we did not disembark the plane until an hour after landing. Apologies for the lengthy complaint, but this seems to be a trend for Spirit, and it's a bit ridiculous.
