Please ask a new question if you need help. Had my first computer death in years, and lost about 16 days work during which I hadn't backed up, as well as my Firefox Profiles. Would have liked to have the Bookmarks saved at least. The Firefox Profiles was last backed up by me 3 months ago.
I tried to set up my Firefox Profiles folder to download to a Backup Folder using this software, and make a copy daily which will just take a second. I was able to isolate the Bookmarks folder and set that up for successful backups, but would prefer to be able to get the entire Profiles folder.
The parent. Delete that parent. Search Support Search. Learn More. So what do I do now to get FF going. Chosen solution Can you delete the file immediately after booting the computer? Does it help if you start Windows Explorer as Administrator? You can create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problem.
You could try to use the Windows Task Manager to terminate Firefox. Will firefox. Thanks for responding. Firefox is not running on my screen When I try to launch it I get 2 error messages in sequence. I found this in the profile but when I try to delete it I get the error massage that "it can not be deleted because it is in use". What do I do now? I got the message "the action can not be completed because the file is open in Firefox" I checked Task Manager apps and there is no evidence of FF.
I have scanned the disk for errors and got no errors. Chosen Solution Can you delete the file immediately after booting the computer? Can you delete the file immediately after booting the computer? You said - Does it help if you start Windows Explorer as Administrator? I checked programs and have no windows explorer From the tiled start screen if I use the search function I have no windows explorer only File explorer and Internet explorer.
What system are you using? This ensures that Firefox accesses the same profile while running, and stops a second profile from being accessed while the first profile is in use.
It also stops Firefox from starting another Profile, if you click on the Shortcut again. It opens another window with the Same Profile. This stops profile contents from being scrambled.
Now, when Firefox shuts down, it removes the parent. Crashing the Computer is NOT an orderly shutdown, and can leave the marker file in place, thus causing the 'Profile in Use' problem. So if you are seeing the Parent. Just to clarify something Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former. This automatically turns on the safety feature on each website your child visits, as long as you have the parental controls active on your computer.
This feature can be turned off only through your password-protected parental settings on your operating system, so your child will not be able to deactivate this feature through the browser. To turn on parental controls on your computer, please see the support documentation for your operating system or see the following instructions.
Built-in Parental Controls let you block websites or filter website content in Firefox or any other browser. Windows XP doesn't have built-in parental controls.
