Wye Mills is a village near the 3-way intersection of US Highways , 50, and There used to be a famous enormous tree there called the "Wye Oak" but it blew down in a storm, several years ago. I think there may also be a bargain outlet shopping center in the Wye Mills area, favored by the thousands of summer beach-goers and Delaware gamblers passing through town.
There is a nearby community college, I think its name is "Chesapeake College". The area just east of the 4-mile long "Bay Bridge" which scares some people who have "phobias" and a little West of Wye Mills, is called "Kent Island" an L-shaped island about 10 miles by 10 miles. Kent Island's population has grown a lot in recent decades with people who want homes with boats and near seafood restaurants and are willing to commute across the long Bridge to urbanized areas of the Western Shore.
Residence on Kent Island have the mailing addresses "Grasonville" or "Chester". The historic towns of Chestertown, Easton, and especially Saint Michaels, are both somewhat upscale and favorite weekend resorts, with history dating to colonial times, and numerous lodgings, inns, seafood, and antique stores. Chestertown has historic "Washington College".
Annapolis is a very fun and hip city to visit or live in. It's the State Capital, and has a walkable historic downtown with very narrow streets, a yacht harbor, the U. Naval Academy with its many uniformed cadets strolling all over town, many nautical gift shops, art shops, and singles bars. Annapolis has its own symphony, opera company, ballet I think , childrens theater, garden theater, and a sailing school.
Also one of the largest Malls in the state. Last edited by slowlane3; at AM.. Thanks so much for the information, sounds like an interesting area. Buying a home and the cost of living If you want to buy a home in the beautiful state of Maryland, you will find that it is one of the highest residential home markets in the country.
Purchasing a home can be a lengthy and complex process. If you own a home in your former location the sale of that home needs to be completed as well. Once you have purchased and moved into your new home, there will be utility and maintenance costs as well as property taxes and home insurance that will contribute to your cost of living.
The advantages of living in Maryland are many, but the high cost of buying a home is not one of them. Healthcare access and affordability and your cost of living Maryland is ranked number 10 out of all states in overall healthcare access and affordability. Healthcare costs make up a significant part of the cost of living.
The ability to afford healthcare as well as the ability to access care are key indicators of how much you will be paying for this important resource if you move to another state.
Affordability is generally measured by the rates set for insurance coverage in a state, as well as the out-of-pocket expenses that need to be paid by you when receiving the care. If rates or out-of-pocket expenses are high, your cost of living will increase. Access to healthcare is how easy or difficult it may be to receive the care.
The timeliness of care, how fast you can get to see a healthcare provider, is another important measure. Fiscal resources for this work and maintenance of the grounds comes from fishing license sales and the Federal Aid and Restoration Fund Dingell-Johnson Act.
